The Central Florida Expressway Authority is an internationally recognized leader in infrastructure planning and development. Our guest speakers will discuss the important role CFX plays in connecting communities and commerce through the adoption of the most comprehensive work plan in CFX history —  relieving congestion, funding innovative pilot projects and creating economic opportunity for Central Floridians.  

Emily Brown joined the Central Florida Expressway Authority in 2017 as Manager of Public Affairs.
With extensive experience in strategic communications and economic development, she brings a unique perspective to agency projects and initiatives – including the advancement of a $2.7B work plan, the largest in agency history.
A native Texan, Emily graduated from Rollins College in 2009 and was awarded a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Central Florida in 2012.  She is a graduate of Leadership Orlando Class 91 and Leadership Osceola 2018, and is a proud resident of the city of Orlando. 

Kathy Putnam is a former broadcast journalist turned public relations, public affairs, and community outreach professional. Kathy is experienced in public information and community outreach for major public infrastructure projects. She manages public outreach and involvement efforts for the Central Florida Expressway Authority’s $2.7 billion 5-Year Work Program. Her communications experience includes leading public relations efforts for high profile clients in Florida, developing the public information strategy on tax extension ballot initiatives for Orange County Public Schools, and managing community and government relations for a large engineering firm. Kathy’s years of communications work in the public and private sectors has provided her with an appreciation for the various needs of clients in those sectors and how to develop and deliver successful messaging for both.
